Top 5 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Let Your Child Watch Spongebob

Ready? Here's why you shouldn't let your child watch Spongebob Squarepants based on experiences with my son...um..yeah.

5. His laugh is hideous. And your kids might try to copy it.

4.  Your child might want a pet squirrel named Sandy. He might ask over...and over...and over...and over...He might set traps in the backyard, a yard that has ZERO trees. He might beg you every time you pass a pet store, even though you've told him a billion times, they don't. sell. squirrels.

3. When he watches the episode where Spongebob curses, and a dolphin voice is the censor, he might ask, "Which bad words is he saying?"

"It doesn't matter. You don't know any bad words."

"Tell them all to me, then."

"No."

And then he might beg and plead and when you finally end it, he just makes dolphin noises instead. How will you discipline a kid for cussing in dolphin?

2. He might bend over in public and grab his behind, then say, "I ripped my pants." A lot. A whole lot. And then refer to #5.

1. And the #1 reason you should not let your child watch Spongebob, he might say to you, "I want your booty."

"What?" you'll ask in total shock.

He might look at you as if you're crazy and say, "I want your booty. You know...booty? Treasure?"

And you never know who else he'll say that to.

Badamp bamp ching! Have a great weekend, watch whatever you want!

  3. Funny post. I'm almost 16 and my sister is 8 and neither one of us has ever seen an episode of Sponge Bob because my dad hates it so much.

  5. Awww, that's too cute! Aren't little ones the best at sending us to laugh ourselves silly in secret!

  6. You are too funny! Although, I'm guilty of hating Sponge Bob and never allowing my kids to watch it. Everything about that show rubs me the wrong way.

    You, however, I love! :)

  8. Lol. My nephews love Sponge Bob. At this age my son just watches episodes of Thomas the Train over and over and over and over and over...

  9. Hey, everyone! Glad you popped in for a morning smile. :)

Spongebob gets on my nerves, too, but hey...

My son loved Thomas the Train. He has pretty much all of them and every accessory minus the game table, but only b/c we had no place to put it!

  11. I might've snorted my diet Dr. Pepper out my nose when I got to #1!

I've never seen an episode of Sponge Bob.

Have a happy Friday, and be thankful your son isn't into Barney like my daughter was. I wanted to seriously commit Dino-cide on that purple goofball.

  12. HA! Spongebob and Barney (why is THAT show still on) are banned in my house as mama can't stand them! I put up with a lot, but that's where I drew my line. My kids will turn them on to watch me scream and run for the remote...great entertainment for them. Thanks for the morning laugh:)

  13. Ah yes, Sponge-Bob, the psycho role model!!! Where can I run and hide?? LOL

  14. My kids, even though they were older...loved Sponge Bob when he first came out.

I remember one Thanksgiving, they made me watch SB - Jellyfish Jam. I gotta say, I laughed until I cried.

  16. Ha! Thanks for the laugh! I LOVE Spongebob. It's sad when me and the hubby start to quote lines from it. LOL!!

  17. ROFL! Great post!

Personally, I'm Lacie, I despise Sponge Bob, everything about it just rubs me wrong. So, yeah, we don't watch it in this house either. Though, my husband would let them if I would. It's one of those things that we don't see eye-to-eye on. However, if Mama ain't happy... (it's good to be Mama)

  18. Okay, I seriously thought I left a comment already. But apparently I didn't...? But, I'm pretty sure my exact words were something along the lines of, "LOL! Hilarious" So needed this Friday laugh!" And...I don't have kids yet, but hopefully by the time I do, Spongebob will have faded into obscurity! :)

  20. I had to take away the Power Rangers when my son was young. I had no real problem with the show, but he judo chopped every guest that walked in the front door. He was much more docile when he hadn't seen the show recently.

  21. Just got a chance to read this. I love Sponge Bob, Grace and I have pretty much seen every episode, I think. My favorite is the one where Sponge Bob and Co. go on land, and the show goes from animation to "live" versions, which were basically clay on sticks. Grace didn't really get it, but I lol'd.

  22. One MORE reason, and this time it's science!
