Christmas Classics

Oh yeah, I'm all about watching Christmas movies all month long. Not the Hallmark or Lifetime movies, although that one with Steve Guttenberg is really good. He's Santa and needs a wife. I just like Steve Guttenberg. Ever since Three Men and a Baby days.

Here's my list of top five Christmas comedies that I must watch at some point and here they are starting with 5 and working to number 1:

And my #1....

    1. Sorry, not a comedy.

I like The Ref starring Denis Leary and my absolute favorite is A Christmas Story. I've even been to the house in Cleveland where they filmed it.

    2. I'm a Die Hard fan too! And we watch Christmas Story. That lamp always cracks me up--glowing in the front window.

  2. I love White Christmas. I usually have to watch it alone, thought, because apparently I'm the only one in my family who appreciates the genius of 2 men dressing up like women and singing "sisters." Yeah!

    2. We watch White Christmas every Christmas Eve after we let the kids open one gift, which is pajamas and they're old enough to know they're getting pjs. lol "Lord, help the mister who comes between me and my sister and Lord help the sister who comes between me and My man!" :)

  3. I totally forgot about that Scrooge version! Love that movie and I've gotta break it out for the kids now:) And Just Friends, never thought about that being Christmas, but it so is. We love Christmas Story & Christmas Vacation too, but our favorite is Elf. We even have an Elf party every year with the whole family to watch it...it makes me smile;)

  5. I haven't seen that Just Friends movie!! Hmmm. Maybe I should rent it and try it this year.

I LOOOOOOOVE While You Were Sleeping.

"Is this guy botherin' you? He looked like he was...uh...leanin'." Bahaha!

    1. I love all things Ryan Reynolds. He's so stinking funny! You should rent it. ;)

Leaning? LOL Too funny. I also like the random kid that slips on the ice and wrecks his bike. I know it's coming, but I cackle every time!

    2. Oh my gosh! We replay that over and over and over...and I've had three kids and drink too much caffeine so laughing that much isn't necessarily a good thing!

  7. A HILARIOUS older movie is "Christmas in Connecticut"--about a writer. I LOVE that one and must get it on CD. But for family movies? We LOVE "Holiday Inn." And "Elmo Saves Christmas" (totally kidding there!!! But must've been watched 100 times when kids were small...)

  8. I love Christmas in Connecticut, too, Heather! In fact, it was part of the inspiration for my debut novel.

Now, I will admit to being somewhat of a holiday movie snob. I like the classics (It's a Wonderful Life, White Christmas, Holiday Inn, Miracle on 34th Street, etc) and am very picky whenever a new Christmas movie comes out. But Elf...loved it. Could not stop laughing! I do love While You Were Sleeping, too. Hmm, maybe I should try Just Friends!

  9. Lots of family movies - we do the classics still: Charlie Brown Christmas, Rudolph, Frosty, White Christmas, Wonderful Life, etc., but we also have added to them over the years.

The Santa Clause with Tim Allen
    While You Were Sleeping
    Christmas Vacation
    Elf
The Grinch - both the classic and the Carey version
    The Family Stone
    Love Actually
    The Holiday
The Nativity (that new one - lovely)
And more - we just keep adding to the home collection so that we have a plethora of choices. They come out when the Christmas stuff comes out... how do I only choose 5?

  10. I also haven't seen Just Friends, but hubs and I both like Ryan Reynolds, so maybe we'll Netflix it this weekend.

    My top 5 are:
Love Actually (if you can find an edited version)
    While You Were Sleeping
    Elf
    A Christmas Story
And maybe The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe or Miracle on 34th Street. Neither are really comedies, but that's all I could come up with.
